MAX SOLUTIONS

Air Sealing
  • Imagine, if your home was a boat, would it float or would the many window, door and other air leak gaps cause it to sink?  Air leaks allow uninvited hot and cold air into your home, which can represent up to 15% of your energy bill.
Polyurethane Spray Foam
  • Spray foam (SPF) is the silver bullet solution for making homes comfortable and energy efficient. SPF safely introduces multiple benefits – an air seal, a thermal and moisture barrier. Solves attic, bump-out additions and crawlspaces comfort issues. No job too small.

About Max

Hello… I am Max. Michael “Max” Grove, the expert behind Max Insulation.

I know about houses, inside and out. I’ve had the pleasure of inspecting more than a hundred roofs and attics, ripping out and replacing scores of kitchens and bathrooms and insulating the attics, walls and crawlspaces all around. No two homes are alike. In DC, Northern VA and surrounding neighborhoods, this is particularly true!

My expertise in making homes more comfortable and energy efficient is from having a construction background where my work has focused on updating and renovating historic properties. Knowing what is behind and inside old walls makes a difference in knowing the optimal solution. In addition, my training includes Building Science Principles through BPI. BPI takes a whole-house approach by evaluating the air seal boundary, thermal boundary, moisture control, and internal air quality. BPI certified professionals also conduct home energy audits.

Making old and historic properties energy and climate efficient presents unique challenges. There is never a single solution to making a historic home comfortable. It requires the right combination of solutions without introducing unintended consequences, such as excessive attic moisture or carbon monoxide gases in the furnace room.

Remember, your house was probably built in the late 1800s or early 1900s when building materials and standards were very different.

The right combination of solutions is important. It can save you 30-50% in energy costs.

Invite me to provide you with a free consult and estimate. You will learn a lot about your home from the hour spent with me. And, I will figure out the right set of solutions to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient.
